The Cedar Band of Paiutes, located in southwest Utah, is one of five constituent Bands of the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah.  Our Paiute name is Suh’dutsing, which means Cedar, derived from the cedar tree that heavily populates our region.  Our language is the Numic language, which relates to the Shoshone and Ute Tribes.  Early Southern Paiutes were hunters and gathers and lived off the land close to water.  Today, we have a total of 257 members enrolled in our Band and have approximately 2,137 acres of reservation land, which runs adjacent to the I-15 corridor about 8 miles south of Cedar City, UT.

 

Like our ancestors we are hunters and gathers, but in a different sense.  We hunt for opportunities to help us rebuild and regain our culture, sovereignty, autonomy, and provide for our people.  Through our holding company, Cedar Band Corporation, we own and operate nine businesses in the fields of technology and telecommunications solutions, staffing services, aerospace engineering, mortgage services, commercial trading post, and now the wine industry with CBC BevCo, a Federally Chartered Corporation owned by the Cedar Band of Paiutes.

 

Headquartered on our reservation in Cedar City, Utah, the Cedar Band Corporation family of companies has filled critical needs in a variety of service areas with a focus on helping clients achieve profitability and growth by improving their ability to understand and manage their customers and business partners.  Working with the Cedar Band family of companies benefits the entire tribal community.  Revenue generated by CBC businesses are “plowed back” into the Band’s community, providing employment opportunities for our people and fostering support for our socioeconomic programs.
